poppinfresh

Meet Pop-Lock-and Drop It Carmelita Lunaberry.

AKA Poppy

Poppy loves giving kisses, especially on the nose and forehead

She loves to do what's called a "binky", which is basically a spazzy jump for joy that rabbits do when they're happy. Then she runs around the room like a bat out of hell.

We adopted Poppy in November and immediately we all fell in love with her. She gives kisses, she bonks your hand with her forehead to show affection, She's chewed holes in my sweatshirt, she picks up my phone and throws it off the steps of the classroom, and basically she's just the best bunny ever. My mom also fell in love with her when she came to visit and she bought Poppy an awesome playpen, so now she can go outside when the snow finally melts! (it will one day...right? RIGHT?)

i'm back

Hello! I've missed you, blog. So many things have happened since I bought a hard-drive, and thought that it didn't work, and then my dad helped me reformat it, and then I felt inspired to start taking pictures again!

-My parents and Alibus visited me, and we all had tons of adventures
-I helped tap Maple trees for syruping season (I tapped them HARD)
-Working on a lot of work and school related projects and being super productive
-Made an adorable tiny perch for my owl (USING POWERTOOLS!)

And so much more.

Posts coming soon!

in words

My dad helped me reformat my new hard-drive (yay!), so I can actually use it now. I'm excited to be able to share the photos I've been taking recently, I am starting to experiment with manual and aperture priority mode on my camera, so we'll see where this goes.

But meanwhile

drinking lots of hot chocolate, now that I've bought a tin of it from the grocery store.

appreciating my life and family here in Minnesota.

watching season six of The Simpsons, my brother sent it to me and it gives me the warm fuzzies.

laughing at Poppy as she nudges my arm, tugs at my keys, and leaps onto my keyboard. She's begging for attention.

eating like a beast. Working hard in the cold, snowy weather makes you hungry.

willing my cold to go away.

waiting to go explore Banning State Park with Alibus.

prepping for our busy teaching months.

opening my heart to people.

sleeping underneath my purple tie-dye down comforter.

remembering all of the little adventures I've had.

brainstorming a new curriculum.

wearing sparkly golashes.

considering going on a night-time woodland adventure tonight.

making charm necklaces.

feeling a little bit down.

getting bullied by a bunny.

loving that Alibus is here visiting.

having weird, creepy dreams.

listening to the running water of the aquariums.

crying during the last two minutes of Safe Haven with Megan.

turning over a new leaf.

acknowledging that I'm my own person and have my own awesome stories to tell.

enjoying Poppy's ridiculousness.

thankful for this beautiful life.

Part three of the Color Challenge:

MELLOW YELLOW

part 1 :: red//part 2 :: orange

Yellow was SO HARD for me for some reason. So I compiled all of the yellow photos I've taken over the past year (as you can see, it didn't amount to much). Maybe someday I'll learn to adore the color yellow, but for now I'll leave this here and go on to GREEN, one of my favorite colors!

I am super late in writing a blog post because my parents came up to visit me this past weekend! We played with creatures, went cross-country skiing, went owling in Duluth (where I saw three Great Gray Owls), indulged in lots of fried foods at hole-in-the-wall restaurants in small town Minnesota, watched movies in haunted cabins, went to a fancy Dinner at the Lake, and got our drink on. It was amazing, and I have tons of pictures to share here, but unfortunately both my computer hard-drive and my external are both out of space. I have TOO MANY PHOTOS (no such thing). So I ordered a new one with the help of a gift card from my Oma and Opa (as well as some wellies for when springtime finally decides to show up). Prepare for photo overload when that guy gets here (500 GB, YESSSS).

I miss summer.

I miss the colors, the air, the scent, the sunshine, the water, the sounds, and only needing to wear a sundress.

Here are some remnants of last summer that I forgot to share here. It was the day I went to my dear friend's cabin and took 700 pictures in a 24 hour period, which is why I never got around to sharing my foray into the woods on here. It was a time where we visited our old haunts, such as Hyrule Field (pictured in my blog banner), explored streams, photographed butterflies, found fully decorated Christmas Trees in the forest, drank apple cider by the fire while waiting for a rainstorm to pass, watched stars and raindrops on the deck, played card games, fried thick bacon, and swung beneath the summer sun.

I successfully whistled on this blade of grass

If I had access to a Gamecube, I would play Super Mario Sunshine to pretend like I'm the one swimming in the lagoons and running across sandy beaches, but instead I'll just watch Bring It On with the rest of the MN fam and daydream about summer.
